Aquactifs - C.Weed Aquaculture

The Aquactifs project is being led by Agrimer, with C Weed Aquaculture from Saint-Malo as one of the partners. It has been accredited since 23rd October 2007 by the Mer Bretagne competitive cluster.
The Aquactifs project aims to enhance the biodiversity of Brittany's algae while preserving the environment. There are 40,000 varieties of algae worldwide. Of these, only some one hundred are used in human food or included in extracts for agriculture and cosmetics.
The project aims to develop new strains of Breton algae that meet the cosmetic market's demand for innovation, based on genetic identification of the varieties, populations and strains that will be grown.
Saint-Malo Agglomération is providing a 19,334 € grant for this project.
